Southern Water: Thousands of residents in 10 postcodes without water – check yours now

Several schools have been forced to close and thousands of residents are without water due to a fault at a Southern Water supply works.

Southern Water said a "technical issue" is to blame for the issues today. It announced the problem had occurred at the Testwood Water Supply Works, and is impacting people across Southampton, Romsey, Eastleigh and the New Forest.

A spokesperson said some households were dealing with low water pressure, whereas some were left without water entirely. They added that resolving the issue was "going to take time".

Southern Water also said water is being delivered to vulnerable customers, and bottled water stations are being set up for others impacted by the problems. It published a list of the 10 postcodes affected:

Speaking to the Daily Echo, Tangmere Drive resident Sandra Hall said: "It’s very strange because my brother lives in Pegasus close in Southampton and he has no cold water. Others I know have no water at all.

"My brother had some contact from Southern Water but we have heard nothing at all. Thankfully, we had a hot shower last night otherwise it could’ve been a real nightmare. All this right before Christmas we’ve got our fingers and everything else crossed that Southern Water can get it fixed before next week."

Stephanie Davidovitz, Head of Water Networks at Southern Water, said: "Our Testwood Water Supply works has run into some issues. We are working through plans to look at how we can restore supply in some areas but it is an emerging issue."

A spokesperson added on the company's Facebook page: "We’re sorry that customers in parts of Southampton, Eastleigh, Romsey and the New Forest are without water. Teams have been on site since the early hours of the morning working to resolve the issue.

"Bottled water stations are currently being set up, the first of which is now open at Places Leisure Centre – Passfield Avenue, Eastleigh, SO50 9NL. We will share details of the additional bottled water stations shortly. Bottled water deliveries for customers on our Priority Services Register have started."

Vulnerable customers are advised to call 0330 303 0368 if they are without water but need it for medical reasons.
